Hendrik van Wort (1860-1923)

Architect and director of several construction companies in Scheveningen and The Hague, director in Rotterdam of the C.H. Eckhart furniture factory and president of the Dutch Furniture Manufacturers' Association.

Four generations later, Hendrik van Wort is virtually forgotten, despite his unprecedented financial success and his important contributions as an entrepreneur, architect and real estate developer, to the development of Scheveningen at the end of the 19th century and the districts of Duinoord and the Statenkwartier around 1900.

Yann Martineau inventoried in 2023 the projects to which Hendrik van Wort contributed in Scheveningen and The Hague. ORYZHOM Editions is currently preparing a work to bring the architect out of oblivion.
