The works of C.H. Eckhart for the Soestdijk Palace in Baarn
This booklet is the third in a series devoted to the work carried out in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries by the Rotterdam steam factory of gilded and polychromed mirror frames, furniture and decorations for the interior and exterior of buildings, with the application of painting and sculpture, trade in mirrors, laminated glass and French mirrors, upholstery fabrics, etc. etc. C.H. Eckhart.
Each booklet is dedicated to a specific location to which the C.H. Eckhart furniture factory has contributed in one or more of its specialties: design and/or production and/or installation of mirrors, furniture, wall, fireplace and ceiling woodwork, curtains, carpets, tablecloths, hanging and closing fittings, chandeliers, that is to say everything which, together or separately, contributes to the decoration of an interior.
This inventory covers C.H. Eckhart's deliveries to Soestdijk Palace. In 1898, C.H. Eckhart decorated and furnished Queen Wilhelmina's drawing room. In August 1900, C.H. Eckhart delivered a screen and two chandeliers to Queen Mother Emma, which she gave to her daughter for her twentieth birthday. In 1938, C.H. Eckhart decorated and furnished Prince Bernhard's office under the direction of architects Jan de Bie Leuveling Tjeenk (1885-1940) and Albert Johan van der Steur (1895-1963) as part of the redesign of the Baarn wing, a gift from the nation to Princess Juliana and Prince Bernhard on the occasion of their wedding.
The work of the CH Eckhart factory is an opportunity for the French-speaking reader to discover a series of remarkable places.
